A painted face
conveys, not its own,
but the artist's vision
of experience:
in resonating with
emotions it evokes,
we're actually responding
to someone else,
whose losses, dreams and hungers
lie beneath this skin.
A human's face
is also a creation,
a reflection of God's vision,
imperfectly realized,
a thing of beauty,
infinitely subtle:
watch closely, and learn.
