Dodging the crashing assumptions

Flying under the storm,
above the waves,
I feel the sky is falling,
the earth unsteady;
I'm dodging huge assumptions
crashing into place
and yet --
the light that is revealed
by the holes they leave behind --
there is a sense
that light will guide me safely home;
that if,
instead of curling in upon myself
I can keep my wings outstretched
they'll catch the wind
and lift me above
the churning;
I'll not be dashed upon the rocks
or hurled into the deep
but dart to safety,  lifted --
lifted into light.
