Weary of the journey

I'm longing
for perspective --
a chance to see
the light on the other side,
how close I am to the top --
because,
right now,
things still look dark
and my feet are tired
of climbing
this endless hill,
of watching the birds'
effortless soaring
while I struggle
to place each foot
on these unsteady rocks.

You've begun an entirely new series!

I'm looking again at yesterday's and seeing a different picture: Where yesterday I saw a gorge and cliffs, now I see a huge hull but the balance still a bit out of whack. Today, the mountain is as clear as the birds and there's something making its way to the top even as some other things seem to be falling into the abyss; but if I shift perspective to the right, the hull comes into view again, plowing through a deeper, darker water. Fascinating, I think.
