The awkwardness of Grace

Certain moments of grace --
the transition between airborne
and back on land or water,
for example --
or even when I'm taking off again --
can look
or feel
incredibly awkward
and exposed;
I never wanted you to see
how thin my legs,
how ruffled my feathers,
how contorted my wings can get
when I'm in that uplifting
or lowering space
between then and now.
Could you just turn your head away
while I settle back into position,
adjust my plumage,
show you my good side?

I especially like this one. It's so ... human!
