The mud beneath my toes

This is the way
that lies before you;
this is the path that you were given.
You can still choose
to turn away;
you can still choose to leap the fence;
you can go part way down,
and then take a left;
exploring your options
along the way.
But what is it that informs your choices?
And who is it who is doing the choosing?
Whose are those informing voices?
Perhaps its time to remove your shoes
and just feel the mud beneath your toes...
