Come and rest

Can you --
will you --
rest a moment;
set aside
the jobs that you've
assigned for yourself --
all the tasks
that give you value --
and just sink into my arms?
When did you forget
that you were precious
in my sight,
and why do you assume
that without these roles you play
your life and your body
have no worth?
Come, my child, and rest.

The Lord said almost the same words to me this morning in my quiet time.

Thank you for the beautiful confirmation.

I love it! I have been searching online for poetry about rest, and I stumbled upon this piece. I am a small group leader for a women's retreat this weekend--all about peace, rest, and worshiping God, and I am going to be handing this piece out to my group. Thank you once again.

Shalom.
